ENCOURAGEMENT
Everyone has good and bad days and it can be especially daunting when faced with a Society which prefers conformity, and seems to have a deep rooted unwillingness to accept anyone who does not conform to the perceived ‘norm’. Yet David, with his shy but quietly confident manner and non-judgemental outlook, stoically perseveres and invariably over-comes obstacles in his way. If you are in need of a bit of encouragement today, and someone to tell you ‘it will be alright’ scroll through these milestones and know that if David can then so can you!
Exhibitions, Stalls and Raising Awareness
In 2012 David became part of an organisation called Heart and Sold, set up to promote the artworks of people with Down’s Syndrome. Through them he exhibited his photos in Macclesfield, Keswick, London, Salford and New York! Heart and Sold no longer exists but they provided the confidence and encouragement for David to host and co-host his own exhibitions in York and Pocklington and to become involved with various fund raising stalls and events helping to raise awareness

Competition 2010-2023
David has entered the competition since it began in 2010. He has been in the top 25 every year and has regularly attended the awards ceremonies (pandemics and health permitting!). In 2015 David won the competition with his picture 'Misty Minster' and was therefore one of the judges and part of the prize giving team in 2016. In 2017, following the filming of the Expedia advert 'David's Story' he was proud to attend with Anthony Wonke (director) and Keaton Stone (producer). In 2018 the awards ceremony was hosted by Rabobank, London and David's 'Sleeping Beauty' won the employees favourite award, which then became the People's Vote in following years. In 2023 a new film category was introduced and David came second with his short film 'David Goes Wild'

'David's Story'
In June 2016 David was contacted to see if he would like to take part in a TV advertising campaign for the on-line travel company Expedia, featuring real people with a passion for travel. Filming took place in October in Wheldrake and then in Iceland with the hope of seeing the Northern Lights.
